BACK PEW

BACK PEW

Romans 8:39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.

Visiting the Skidaway Island Church was something I did each time we
vacationed in Savannah. This year It was necessary for me to attend the
early service - 7:45. I set my alarm the night before, but it
malfunctioned and I awakened quite late. "Well,"" I thought, I can
still go to church; I will jut be tardy." When I arrived the church was
full and I had to sit in the back pew. I didn't like being back there
at all -for I felt alone and separated from the others who were
worshiping .A carpeted area behind the body of pews did separate me
physically, but this isolated feeling was one I had not experienced
before. Then communion was served. In my prayer time as the others
partook, I began to have a change of heart. I allowed the Holy Spirit
to work in my spirit, and the feelings of separation began to shed. I
listened to each benediction after other folks partook at the altar,
and the words infiltrated my heart. How could I allow an emotion, and a
few feet of carpet ever dictate the way I felt about my relationship
with my Lord and the Body of Christ.? Ridiculous, I know, but I
experienced it for a short while this morning. Praise God I had a quick
turn around and felt the Holy Embrace of our Heavenly Father in a short
period of time.

If spiritual isolation attacks you, remember God's word promises us
that NOTHING can separate us from His love. Feeling it or not is not
the issue. He is WITH us, IN us and FOR us...all the time; everywhere.
What a loving and marvelous God we have!
