HANDMADE

HANDMADE
By Sally I. Kennedy

Maybe it sounds corny, but I like handmade presents best. Not to say I
don't like 'silver and sparkly', but a handmade gift is a
treasured bit of the gift-giver.

A couple years ago, I received a Christmas card from Taylor, my eleven
year old granddaughter. It was special because she thought of it, she
created it with love, customized it just for me, and sent it to me.

Another special present was a double picture frame from my sister. The
old black and white photo on the left is the two of us when were were
young children. On the right is a photo of us at my recent birthday. A
special gift, handmade with love, holding countless memories.

We've a friend who is "retired"; claims he is busier than ever.
He loves to plant a garden, and share the produce with others. He
makes salsa and pickles, jams and jellies, and is generous to share
them. We have so enjoyed those handmade gifts.

In my Mom's later years, she was pretty much confined to being
indoors, and she spent many hours crafting Christmas tree ornaments
from ribbon, pearls, and sequins. Her handmade ornaments are now
family heirlooms, and much treasured.

Do you know we are handmade gifts? To the world, and to each other.
God made us, and we know that without Him nothing was made that was
made.

Handmade gifts. The best, sharing the heart and soul of the giver.

PRAYER
"Lord Jesus, your coming in the flesh to ransom us from slavery to
sin gives us cause for great rejoicing even in the midst of trials
and pain. Help me to patiently and joyfully accept the hardships,
adversities, and persecution, which come my way in serving you.
Strengthen my faith and give me courage that I may not shrink back
from doing your will".
