HANGMAN'S NOOSE

HANGMAN'S NOOSE
By Marion Smith
November 2, 2010

The other day in church, before the service started, I noticed two
children playing a game which had occupied many hours for my sister
and me when we were children. We called it " Hangman's noose."
Blank spaces were drawn at the bottom of the page denoting the number
of letters in a particular word. The object was to figure out the
word before too many incorrect letters were guessed, for each
incorrect letter required a body part be drawn of a person who would
hang from the noose. (Who ever thought up this game??) There were
the head, arms, and legs to be drawn in, and then¼.depending upon the
rule of the day¼ eyes ,ears, nose, mouth, fingers and perhaps toes.

Let's play the game today, with a little variation. Today my word has
6 letters. __ __ __ __ __ __. Rather than letters, however, we
will use six important factors to fill in the spaces. When we have
these six things we can be sure we will not be hung by Satan. He will
not strangle us with his noose of sin, which separates us from God.
The truth is, we only need one factor, and the rest are items to keep
us on the right path of the Christian life. The number one thing
required is salvation, gained by recognizing we are sinners and
accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. The 2nd factor
is allowing Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. Then we need to pray,
read the Bible, nurture Christian friendships and worship God at a
church of your choosing.
I am sure you know my word is CHRIST- the living son of God. He came
into this world to rescue us from Satan's grasp, and I am forever
grateful.

Thank you, dear Lord, for children in the sanctuary where I
worship .
Thank you that such a weird little paper game could give me this
glimpse from you.
You are one awesome God!!!
