REASSURANCE
Contributed by Marion Smith
Sep 26, 2006

"God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in
trouble." Psalm 46:1

The storm was on its way. We knew it. The leaves began to flutter in
the trees with the tell-tale signs of the impending storm. With each
roll of thunder, my two-year-old grandson, Davis, said, "Thunder,
Nana, thunder."

"Yes", I would reply, "It's okay; the thunder wont hurt you. Nana is
here with you."

We repeated this scenario many, many times before the rain pellets
battered our windows and the ground flooded with water. Each time he
would cry out, I would try to soothe him and give him reassurance.

God is like that, I believe. He wants us to know He is with us
during the times when we are frightened. When we call out, over and
over, in fear and trembling during the troubles of life, He whispers
His assuring words to us. He will always be available for His
children. He gives us many promises in the Bible to tell us this
truth, but one of my favorites is Psalm 55:22: "Cast thy burden upon
the Lord and He shall sustain thee."

Let us always remember that God will never leave nor forsake us! How
blessed we are!

PRAYER
"Lord Jesus, you became a servant for my sake to set me free from the tyranny of selfishness, fear, and conceit. Help me to be humble as you are humble and to love freely and graciously all whom you call me to serve."
