THE GOLD BATHING SUIT

THE GOLD BATHING SUIT

....over all these... put on love, which binds them all together in
perfect unity. Colossians 3:14

Last night three of our young grandchildren had a sleepover. Watching
them swim before bedtime, my mind traveled back to when my sister and I
were kids. For ten weeks each summer we were in absolute heaven, at a
small lakeside cabin, where our parents had spent their honeymoon.

The year I was eight, I had a gold lame bathing suit. &hibar;I felt
like the queen, or at the very least, Esther Williams. &hibar; What I
couldn't do in that suit! Synchronized ballet swimming had nothing on
my moves. Or so I thought. Once I donned the gold bathing suit, I was
invincible in the water.

Sometimes I catch myself dressing a certain way according to my mood.
If I am feeling confident, maybe a classy, together looking outfit,
complete with jewelry. &hibar; If I feel blue or down in the dumps, a
sloppy T-shirt,cut-offs, and a ponytail might do it.

In the Bible, book of Isaiah, it says, to put on a garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness. &hibar;Singing along to some praise and
worship music definitely brightens up my depression.

So here's the question: what are you wearing today? No matter what it
is, God's love and light fit perfectly over it. They are the one-size
fits all that really does, any and every day.

PRAYER

"Father in heaven, you have given me a mind to know you, a will to
serve you, and a heart to love you. Give me today the grace and
strength to embrace your holy will and fill my heart with your love
that all my intentions and actions may be pleasing to you. Give me the
grace to be charitable in thought, kind in deed, and forgiving towards
my neighbor as you have been towards me".
