THE OCEAN
Contributed by Melanie Schurr
Oct 12, 2006

The ocean has always been a special place for me; a place to let
nature soothe my mind, allowing it's waters to refresh and awaken my senses,
and the rhythm of the surf to revive my soul in the same way one's heart
brings life blood into their veins. While the mountains are also a
favorite escape of mine, there is just something unique about the
tropical sun and surf that draws me again and again to the cool and
crystal blue waters of the ocean.

Where is your special vacation or relaxation spot; the place where you
can rest and recoup?

For some people, it is a wilderness trip or exhilarating hike up the
side of a mountain. The splendid glory of tall pines, field flowers and
clean air intoxicates your eyes and lungs, and it is not long before worry
becomes nothing more than a distant memory.

Or perhaps your escape is to canoe down a winding river, stopping
occasionally to dip your toes in the quenching water?

Many people even find similar solitude in their own back yard. Just
tie up a hammock, grab a good book, and glass of ice cold mint tea, and,
voila! Instant oasis!

God gave mankind nature to be enjoyed and used to our godly advantage,
but let us not forget that there is a supreme refuge in our heavenly
Father. In His Divine presence we may not only find peace, comfort and
joy, but as do those cool waters of the ocean crash over ones body, so
too, does His mercy and grace purify those of us who seek truth.

Open your eyes to the beauty around you, including, God.

PRAYER
"Lord, your gospel brings joy and freedom. May I be loyal to you always, even though it produce a cross on earth, that I may share in your crown in eternity".
