WATCH OUT FOR WEBS Contributed by Melanie Schurr I was walking our dog down the same path I usually do. The path appeared clear as it typically does, yet all of a sudden I found myself crazily flailing my arms to remove the spider webs which were now all over my face, hair and shoulders. Being a person who admittedly has a strong aversion to spiders, I quite plainly freaked out, knowing that where spider webs are, there usually exist spiders as well. After giving my body a thorough once over, I turned around to see a huge, black spider with long legs and yellow markings. Apparently, I just missed planting him on my face by only inches! It was really all so strange because I honestly did not see the web (or the spider), thus unexpectedly found myself in a predicament I definitely did not want to be in. Isn't that the way life can be at times too? We may think the path we are going down is safe and clear, but the reality is, it is a path where many dangers lurk. For example, an occasional drink or two of alcohol is perfectly fine, but when abused, can lead to alcoholism, harming ones health, and even deeply affecting ones entire family. The same thing is true with what some people may regard as harmless flirting, engaging in a brief fling, or partaking of pornography. You may think, "Oh, it's not such a big deal," but, to God, it is. Not only to our heavenly Father, God, but, as stated, such seemingly harmless acts affect ones entire being: mind, body and spirit, and thus, begins to reach into the lives of even those we most love, our families. Today, open your eyes to the unhealthy path YOU might be walking down, and call out to God before you get too dangerously tangled. PRAYER Lord, teach me to understand and see the place you are in my life, that I can live my life to the fullest, through the same Christ our Lord.
