TOO TIGHT SHOES

TOO TIGHT SHOES
By Sally I. Kennedy
October 3, 2010

"Come, follow me," Jesus said. Matthew 4:19

My husband is not a 'shopper'. But the sneakers he'd had for a long
time had seen their day. He decided to bite the bullet and go for it,
make a trip to the store and get some new sneakers for our trip.

Oh boy! The weather was sooo gorgeous. We couldn't wait to get on our
walking shoes and get going. Not too far into the hike, Ben said "You
know, these shoes are kind of bothering me! They feel sorta tight or
something."

We moved on. The sky was so clear, the air so cool, the trees so
golden and glorious, that there was little thought given to the shoes
again. Until we got back to where we were staying.

He peeled off the new shoes and socks, to discover not only an ugly
blister rubbed on his heel, but also a bone bruise by his large toe.
My husband's shoes were too small. He only wore them one day. Not
even one whole day.

The injury and bruising he sustained took all week to heal. It
definitely curtailed activity. We did try hiking again, and he wore
some other shoes which were not at all fit for the job.

In the sixth chapter of Ephesians, Paul tells us how to put on the
armor of God. He says "wear shoes that are able to speed you on as
you preach the Good News of peace with God". Other versions say
"sandals of peace".

If I am not walking in peace, I am in too small. too tight shoes.
Prayer: Lord, please help me choose the right shoes today, the best
shoes for this day, that I might follow in your foot steps. Thank
you, Lord. Amen.
