SURVIVAL OF THE WEAKEST
Contributed by Maria Hanna

A wonderful song recites the verse "He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young [recent moms who still feed their kids]" (Isaiah 40: 11). Have you wondered why the Holy Spirit specifically mentions the little lambs and the recent moms and specializes them with God's care? Because they are the weakest. They are the least able to defend themselves or escape dangers on their own. They need to be held and watched over.

No wonder that God reminded Paul later "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Our weakness is God's specialty. The motto of this world has been "Survival of the fittest". Thank God and a million Halleluiahs that we have been purchased out of it through the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Being the cherished children of the King, we live under the hope of the Cross - "Survival of the weakest". From the world's perspective, we may seem weak, just as Jesus appeared to be weak on the Cross. But in reality, we are strongest in the Spirit by fulfilling God's plan for our lives each day and awaiting God's resurrection of our souls.

Friend, in the times when you feel the weakest, remember, these are the times when God will be the strongest in your life. He will never leave nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:5). You will be of special interest to Him, exactly as the little lambs and the recent moms are. You have special place in His arms.

PRAYER

"Lord Jesus Christ, you have triumphed over the grave and you have won new life for us. Give me the eyes of faith to see you in your glory. Help me to draw near to you and to grow in the knowledge of your great love and power."
