GOD HAS A DESIGN

GOD HAS A DESIGN
By Bob Perks
Oct 11, 2005

In a recent message from someone, they happened to mention that a loved
one had escaped death by recovering from a terrible disease. He went on
to describe the pain and anguish they went through and the long
suffering from the ordeal.

How tragic. How sad that anyone would need to face these things in
life.

He ended by saying something I've heard a thousand times. Perhaps I
have even said something similar.

"God must have a design for her!" he declared. "She is alive today to
fulfill it!"

I don't know why but the same old familiar thought suddenly blind sided
me like a freight train.

I know it means well to say that. I know it serves a great purpose in
suggesting that God had saved her life because He has something great
for her to do. Something specific for her that no one else could do.

Look out here comes that train...BAM!

Does that suggest then that all the rest who have lived a somewhat
healthy life, with no near death experiences, have no real meaning or
purpose in life? Not at all!

I suddenly remembered many conversations with people who felt empty.
They felt no great significance in living. They could not find a
purpose if it was written on their forehead and standing in a house of
mirrors. No grand things happened to deem them worthy. No "almost died
but I saw a bright light" moments to validate them.

What about them? What about you?

My friend, God does have a design for you, too! For each of us. For all
places we walk, all people we speak with, all days we live happily and
all long, lonely nights we may despise. He has singled you out to be
you. He has scrambled together all the magical genetic pieces of life
itself and designed you to do what you do best. Being you!

It is somehow made obvious for those who suffer long in life. But for
you, for the many who want to be important in His plans...YOU ARE
ALREADY!

It shouldn't take a near death experience to bring you to that
conclusion. But if that is what you need to feel important than realize
we are all within a breath away of death every day, every second, so
you are indeed having a near death experience right now which should
make you stand up this very minute, rising from that
much-too-comfortable chair in front of your computer and shout..."God
has a design for me, too!"

He does, my friend. He always has and always will. Until that day when
he says, "Job well done!"

"God has a design for_____", fill in the blank with your name and now
fulfill that purpose from this moment on as a chosen one plucked from
near death to serve Him well.

PRAYER
"Lord, fill me with your love and increase my thirst for holiness.
Cleanse my heart of every evil thought and desire and help me to act
kindly and justly and to speak charitably with my neighbor."

"I believe in you!"
